Job Description

 

  • Supervise and co-ordinate activities of payroll staff
  • Manage payroll workload to meet operational requirements
  • Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates. (8,000 employees)
  • Oversee compliance with statutory reporting and filing requirements
  • Prepare, review and maintain accurate payroll general ledger account reconciliations
  • Review and improve payroll policies and procedures
  • Ensure all payroll information and records are maintained in accordance with statutory requirements
  • Support all internal and external audits related to payroll
  • Oversee process of weekly payroll for executives and office staff
  • Manage and resolve issues relating to payroll production
  • Manage and develop payroll staff
  • Familiar with Microsoft Great Plains, Greenshades, Word, and Excel
  • Able to work in a team environment
  • Able to complete tasks in a timely and efficient manner
  • Able to communicate clearly and succinctly to other members of the finance/accounting department, as well as members of the wider Jack’s management team
  • Self-starter, able to identify areas for improvement and act on those improvements, as well as take on additional responsibilities in the future
  • Organized
  • Able to learn quickly and able to cross-train others on the payroll team
